Cedar trees were giants of the Australian rain forests.
They grew from southern NSW up the coast to North Queensland and when felled
were many hundreds of years old.
Valued as Colonial Australia’s red gold they were sought out by cedar getters to become
architectural joinery, and be made into beautiful furniture. Cedar timber was so prized
that only one hundred years on, by the early 20th Century, the cedar trees were ‘all’ gone.
This site is about the cedar that lives-on as beautiful Australian Antique Furniture.
